Throughout my spiritual journey, God has been pursuing my heart, as he does with all of us. But my pursuit of him over the years has looked more like ‘show and tell’ than a fully surrendered heart.

While I sang “Jesus Loves Me” as a kid, I wondered inside, “But, does he really love ME?” My childish method of approaching God and this question followed me into adulthood, where I grew weary of trying, weary of wondering, and, quite frankly, weary of myself.

But about 10 years ago, I walked through a series of events that finally felt like a very personal encounter with God. This began a process in which I continue to learn to engage in life and in prayer with my whole heart and to simply receive his love. It is an ongoing process, and it all centers around getting Quiet on Purpose.

As a wife, a mother and now grandmother, and in my work as a Police Dispatcher and church administrator, I have learned firsthand the importance of attentive listening.
